Joyce Morrell came to Campobello Island, New Brunswick at the age of eleven when her parents moved from New Jersey.
Largely self-taught, she also received training at Middlebury College, Vt., the Museum School in Boston, The Art Center in Rochester, Minnesota and various other sources.
OWEN HOUSE GALERY
Joyce feels that the artists who have had the most influence on her work are Carl Schmalz, professor of art at Amherst College and Margaret Kranking, friend and painting companion, who is becoming nationally known as a watercolorist.
Although trained in commercial art and illustration, Joyce continued through those years to show her own work.
She also taught art at the Univ. of Maine, Machias for thirteen years.
From 1980 on she has concentrated on her own watercolors.

She now runs Owen House, her family home on Campobello, as an Inn and paints full time.
