New Brunswick’s

Sea-Level Rise:

Storm-surge flooding and coastal erosion

are problems that are with us today. In addition to sea-level rise caused by

climate change, land is subsiding in the Maritimes by about 20 cm per century.

An Environmental Citizen

Who Me?

As Canadians, it is our responsibility to care for the environment. It's also in our best interest. Many Canadians have already

put their concern about the environment

into action recycling is a good example.

But we need to do much more,

and get everyone involved.

Atlantic Coastal Action Program:

In 1991, faced with an urgent need to

restore damaged coastal environments, Environment Canada initiated ACAP, the Atlantic Coastal Action Program, as a

means of mobilizing local communities to address their own environmental and developmental challenges. The Atlantic Coastal Action Program is a community-

based program that relies on local involvement and support. ACAP involves

14 sites across Atlantic Canada -two in Newfoundland, two in Prince Edward Island, five in Nova Scotia, and five in New Brunswick.
